Hey there, folks!
I just wanted to explain a little about myself. Firstly, I am a commited Christian and love the Lord. Secondly, I have many interests, the main ones being writing, wolves, and music. I have been writing for over 10 years, and am now on a very large book that is not dissimilar to the works by Tolkien. Wolves factor directly into my writing often (my current book using some as fictional main characters), but are a scientific interest to me as well. I have read many of the celebrated works of L. David Mech, The Deutchers, and R.D. Lawrence, and am studying wolf biology myself. As for music, I enjoy listening to Bluegrass both old and new, Classical, Romantic, some early Jazz, Boogie-Woogie, Big Band, and Celtic. I also play music on the piano and banjo. Some tertiary pursuits of mine include a passion for Irish dance shows like Riverdance and On Dangerous Ground (I am a quarter Scottish), some very awesome animes (such as Wolf's Rain) and building banjo bridges.

Armrest-less and Dangerous | left-handed Gibson banjo test
1.25 years since the new rim has been installed. It's been apart twice in that time (minor trimming for tone-ring skirt), and played hard.

The Miracle of Torrefied Wood | a must for anyone in search of prewar tone!
Переглядів 6723 роки тому
We all love (or at least most of us) the prewar banjos of the 1930s...Unless you want the collectability they offer, there's fewer reasons nowadays to have one especially since the advent of torrefied wood. Torrefaction is the process of heating wood to a few hundred degrees C in an oxygen-free space to prevent combustion. This forces out resin, starches and other volatiles that make regular wo...

Do Resonators Make a Difference On A Banjo?
Переглядів 3,1 тис.3 роки тому
I test my new custom 5-string banjo with two resonators. Which one do you prefer, A or B? Specs: Neumann u87ai iPhone 8 Banjo head tuned to A Medium guage strings Reso info: Resonator A is a shallow, Granada style geometry Resonator B is a deeper, 75-style geometry An often overlooked but important factor in resonator banjo design is...the resonator! Seems simple enough, but most manufacturers ...

Just as I was about to film, rain began to come down! And I thought what better test to put a banjo through...notwithstanding the unfinished wood of the neck getting damp, haha. 8 month test of a Sullivan torrefied block rim. Stock Blackjack used: original neck, resonator, tension hoop, flange and head. #Banjo #bluegrass #GibsonBanjo

Thats one fine sounding banjo....BTW have u heard Earl play this tune...people think Jim Mills is so great,,,but IMHO if you want to hear and learn REAL drive and timing study Earl,,,just as Jim did. Earl was the one who wrote Pickalong, along with Doc.
Great video, guy, and stellar banjoing! I liked the sweetness of the second one better. But, both banjos would sound a little better if you didn’t anchor your ring finger and pinky on the heads. I know a banjoist of your caliber knows this, but give it a try! Thanks again for sharing this!
Who’s the guy on the mandolin. His playing was great.
No idea why, but prefer the first one. The second one sounds a little more twangy, thinner, not as rich. Am I imaging things?
2nd one is the great one. Both sounded great but I really enjoyed the tone of the 2nd.
Ill give you fifty bucks and you pay for shipping
I have one of Fizzy’s great grandchildren! He just turned 9 months old and he is beautiful ❤
Irlanda che spettacolo di popolo e di gente ci sono stato un nave che bella gente grndi lavoratori e grandi amici. Vi porto nel cuore ha ancora la musica del vostro folk. E ascoltarw ti inebria ti fa sognare ti sublima. Grazie mille forza irisch dal sud Italia ❤❤❤❤
Sounds just like Roy Clark playing. Just a bit slower.
Speed mix or mex?? Didn't catch that after replay several times.
I guess you'd have to be there. Sound over the Internet apparently is not the proof of the pudding. Thanks for showing them, though.
I was hoping you would play it without the resonator too… 😢😢😢
Rolling behind a cross-picked Mandolin can be muddled the same way.
Slainte Erin.
So what exactly are all the parts in this banjo? This is a great sounding banjo! Any set up tips for a a mahogany player that’s just bought their first maple banjo ?
Man this banjo sounds sooo good. What is it?
Mighty good pickin boys keep it up ❤️🪕🎶🎶🎶🎶
Im just learning and i find the resonator to be heavy and cumbersome. I think i will remove it until i get better. Are you left handed?
1:16
Did you have to find a left handed banjo teacher?
No drums. No girls screaming in kee. Ah, real bluegrass
Is Eric still in Silverhill, Al?
I don't know.
Damn, Son, you can really pick!
I am Wolf

Mathew . I like the crack effect and tonality .. was wondering what type of "head are you using"... BTW. I've ordered a Sullivan Rim as well .. Looking forward
You needed to say which was the better banjo and why. Most people can’t tell…including me.
Cool. I used to drive a Granada. Sold it, became my last Granada
i think that the second one sounds better because i think that the banjo has more pop with the second one than with the first one
Great Banjo player Ron Sterwart
Awesome picking.
Talk too much
Man some people are just dumb AF
Wunderbar, besonders die irischen Gärten
Wow
That sounds great! What kind of strings and bridge did you have on this
Who makes the telemark?
The women in Green with the 3 pronged symbol in the middle of there chest. What is that symbol and where does it come from?
Takes a keen ear to hear the difference in the way that multi thousand dollar banjo rings off tho
Fine. But for the rest of us, which one was it?
To a real pro in the studio but once you're mic'd up on stage, well we know what happens even if sugar is going in. They both sound great with your fingers.
The 85s according to the hangout did not have the emulated bronze tone rings Richard copied. If this is true then these rings were most likely brass or zamac, zamac being a step lower of the amount of copper etc. It isnt clarified here whether this banjo is a maple or a mahogany however the zamac tone rings pop better in a maple body.
Sounds amazing.
💓💖💞♥️🐺🐺🐺💕💘
Unappreciated dedication to greatness
Sounds great! I have a 05 Blackjack and I love it as it is. I also have two Osborne Chief banjos, one with a Blaylock rim ,one with a Huber they both sound great. I have a 88 Granada that I had A Huber ring installed. Trying to improve the sound. I think you are right about the wood being more important!!
Ron is a gentleman, as is his dad, Frank.
Youll get a much better tone if you make sure that head is very tight. Just because Don Reno preached having a floppy head doesnt mean it was for a Yates banjo. 91 and above on the dial.
I'd have enjoyed an open-back play of that tune on that banjo, just for comparison.
You’re a monster player
Hawwwww yiss, get it fellas!
What's the brand of this console? I assume it's the Indiana Brand..I love it
